Richmond, VA

Natural Bridge

Richmond, Va is really quiet during the day but as soon as the offices let out, the city gets alot more action. There is much more history in this city with places to see and go than I found when I was first doing research on this city. The Dominion Energy Center is a beautiful 1920s style theatre with intricate details all throughout the the whole building.

The riverwalk wasn’t listed as a place of note but the connecting Civil War museum was. We enjoyed both but my son really wanted to go to the Museum because anything with warfare has always interested him. However the statues that I posted at the start of Richmond section are truly amazing!

Kings Dominion

Williamsburg, VA

There is so much to see and do in Williamsburg. This town has over 300 years of history and has been made into the largest living museum in the US. There is so much to see and learn with many people who not only do their ‘acting parts’ very well and are always in character but also know how and can explain how to do all the tasks that were need to be done during Revolutionary times. Everything from spinning, weaving, cooking, shooting, gunsmithing and running the forge.

To the side of the Governor’s Mansion, is the kitchen gardens, just as they would have been during Colonial times. The gardens were planted with many different cooking herbs in the first row and then onions, cabbages and several other vegetables along with fruit trees on both sides. All of these in well taken care of tiered beds. But behind that garden was this beautiful circular pathway surrounding what looked to be a manmade pond with this beautiful wooden bridge.
